TWIGMAN VALENTINE DAY

TWIGMAN HAD BEEN SAVING HIS MONEY. THE TIME HAD COME TO BUY WHAT HE HAD BEEN SAVING FOR. IT WAS VALENTINE DAY. TWIGMAN WANTED TO BUY A NICE VALENTINE PRESENT FOR HIS WIFE, LEAFY TWIG AND FOR HIS LITTLE DAUGHTER, FUZZY. HE WAS GOING TO THE STORE.

THE STORE KEEPER WAS A MAN WHO HAD BUSHY HAIR, A BUSHY BEARD, A BUSHY MUSTACHE AND A BIG SMILE. TWIGMAN PICKED OUT TWO VERY NICE BOXES OF CANDY THAT WERE SHAPED LIKE A HEART. WHEN THE PRICES WERE ADDED UP, TWIGMAN DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY FOR THE NICE VALENTINES HE HAD CHOSEN. HE WAS TWENTY FIVE CENTS SHORT. THE SMILING MAN SAID, "THAT IS O K. I WILL CUT THE PRICE BECAUSE YOU ARE HARD WORKING WOOD CUTTER AND YOU HAVE A NICE FAMILY." TWIGMAN THANKED HIM FOR BEING SO NICE AND STARTED HOME.

ON HIS WAY HOME TWIGMAN SAT DOWN ON A LOG TO REST AND LAID THE CANDY BY HIS SIDE. A SNEAKY FOX SAW THE CANDY AND VERY QUIETLY SLIPPED UP FROM BEHIND, GRABBED THE CANDY AND RAN AWAY VERY FAST.

TWIGMAN CHASED AFTER THE FOX BUT THE ANIMAL WAS JUST TO FAST. TWIGMAN COULD NOT CATCH HIM. TWIGMAN WAS VERY SAD. HE COULD NOT GO BACK TO THE STORE FOR MORE CANDY AND HE DESPERATELY WANTED TO HAVE NICE VALENTINES FOR HIS WIFE AND HIS LITTLE GIRL.

TWIGMAN WENT BACK TO HIS SEAT ON THE LOG AND DECIDED TO CARVE SOME VALENTINES ON PIECES OF WOOD. IT WAS THE ONLY THING HE COULD DO.

WHEN TWIGMAN GAVE THE HAND MADE VALENTINES TO LEAFY TWIG AND FUZZY TWIG HE TOLD THEM THE STORY ABOUT THE FOX STEALING THEIR CANDY AND SAID HE WAS VERY SORRY. LEAFY TWIG SAID, "THAT IS ALL RIGHT. IT IS THE THOUGHT THAT COUNTS." FUZZY TWIG SAID, "I WANTED CANDY!"

AFTER SUPPER THAT EVENING LEAFY TWIG BROUGHT OUT A HUGE CHOCOLATE CAKE THAT WAS SHAPED LIKE A HEART WITH M & M'S ALL OVER THE CHOCOLATE ICING. SHE SAID, "WE ALL LOVE EACH OTHER SO THIS CAN BE EVERYONE'S VALENTINE TO EVERYONE ELSE." THE KIDS ALL YELLED, "YEAH, YEAH, YUMMY YUMMY!" THEY ALL HAD A BIG PIECE OF CAKE AND A COLD GLASS OF MILK. THORNY AND KNOBBY EACH HAD SECONDS BUT FUZZY WAS SO FULL SHE SAID, "I CAN'T HOLD ANOTHER BITE!" EVERYONE AGREED IT WAS A NICE VALENTINE DAY AFTER ALL EVEN THOUGH THE MEAN FOX STOLE AWAY WITH THE CANDY.
